Oak Woods Cemetery: Eddie Harris: Musician

Eddie Harris (20 Oct 1934-5 Nov 1996) was a world renowned saxophonist. A native of Chicago, Harris studied music at Roosevelt University, served in the United States Army, then signed with Vee Jay Records, later moving to the Columbia Records label. Harris recorded such hits as Exodus (the first jazz single to sell over 1 million copies), Listen Here, Freedom Jazz Dance, and Compared To What.
