ABRAHAM LINCOLN - President of the United States

The entrance to President Lincoln's Tomb is dominated by this brass replica of the seated statue from the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC, by sculptor Daniel Chester French. It is surrounded by a circular railing to keep visitors beyond arm's length. The bronze door behind the statue leads to a small office at the center of the tomb; corridors lead to the left and right to permit access to the burial chamber in the rear. The corridors were built as a part of a reconstruction project in 1930.

(Daniel Chester French's works also include the monument of Marshall Field in Graceland Cemetery, Chicago)
